Staying in the Green Zone

“Staying in the Green Zone” was a discussion about the use and the influence of alcohol presented by Cory Rosenkranz. Cory managed to capture our interest because she spoke not only about the general view but also se spoke for personal experience. She was able to give us general examples, and examples for her personal experience. The discussion can be divided in few parts.

In the first part Cory Rosenkranz spoke about the influence of alcohol, and how it effects our health. From the discussion we learned that it is not only how much you drink, but also how fast you drink. It is of great importance how fast you drink. If you drink faster, that means that the concentration of alcohol in your body will be much more than if you drink slower. Another point that Cory mentioned is that the concentration of alcohol in one’s blood depend also on how much one had ate. If one eat before he drink alcohol (or eat the same time with the drinking), his alcohol concentration will be lower. Maybe the most important point that Cory mentioned was that the time is the only way to lower you concentration of alcohol in blood. Nothing else can lower you alcohol concentration. The things that I mentioned before can only reduce the time that one’s concentration grows, but they cannot lower one’s total concentration.

The second part was about her personal experience. She gave us examples of what can do a person when he is under the influence of alcohol. That example was from her personal experience, and really capture our attention. She explained to as that she no longer drink because of her bad experience. Another interesting fact that she pointed is that in America, women drink more than man, because they want to show that their are not different than men and can do everything that man can do. After that the discussion continued with sharing experience. Everyone who had experienced or seen the influence of the alcohol was able to share his experience with the group.

At the end I want to say something for my personal experience. I come from Bulgaria and drinking there is not a problem. I had seen even ten – year – old children to drink alcohol, and believe me, this is not a nice picture. I have also so bad experience with alcohol, and the only thing that I remembered was the terrible headache at the morning. Drinking is not a nice thing as most people think. It is something very dangerous and unhealthy. Remember, the most important thing is one’s health, and do not ruined it with alcohol.
